Swing Moorings – Nelson Bays, Marlborough, Tasman
Nelson Bays has approximately 100 swing moorings – situated mainly around Wakefield Quay near the Port and along the Boulder Bank. Others can be found around Monaco, and Mapua.
Further afield there are approximately 20 swing moorings nestled in the Tarakohe Harbour Marina, Tasman Bay, protected from the elements by rock walls that were built for the Golden Bay Cement Company who operated out of the Marina from 1908 to 1988.
In the Marlborough Region, there are numerous moorings in nearly all the Bays and Coves in the Marlborough Sounds.
Swing moorings are privately owned, and leased off the relative District Councils, who ensure that they are safe and correctly positioned under their Bylaws.
These swing moorings often become available for sale or lease, and some owners are offering their moorings for short term rental. If you are interested in renting a mooring, either short or long term, please contact us here for more information.
